A Whole New World
The miracle most responsible for bringing about the burgeoning golden age is the Caliph’s Pokemon capture device. Although they can, in theory, be made of a container of any shape and size, by far the most common and popular is an engraved spherical case. The exact mechanism by which they open varies by craftsman, but the thin bronze shell of a standard “poke-ball” is sturdy and lightweight. More importantly, the round shape is easy to toss – any capture device must make contact with a pokemon to bind it, so throwing one accurately makes a trainer’s task much easier. Other materials are also frequently worked into capture balls to improve their quality either generally or for specific needs. Bits of fine cloth, soft sand, or other small luxuries are often added to the interior of capture devices by trainers, going with the bound pokemon into their magical cell and allowing them to create of it a comfortable abode.
